We added extra pins for better grip on new Seagate models. It still can not substitute platter or spindle replacement, but it can help in certain cases.

In cases when a hard drive motor is slightly jammed, it is better to try and loosen up the motor then to risk a platter swap procedure. If motor does not free itself in 10-15 minutes, it is most likely that it will not free at all. If such thing happens, we recommend hddSurgery Spindle Replacement Tool.
